Natural inspiration
The island of Meanguera is surrounded by amazing natural geography and exotic beauty that will change the way you look at the world. With your camera and our guidance, we'll help you improve your photography skills and the way you interact with your subjects. Every morning we'll rise to amazing light, the perfect setting for capturing the daily lives of the local fishermen and the surrounding communities.
Wild things
Within our daily excursions we will occasionally run into dolphins and sea turtles. You will have the opportunity each morning to select your own dinner - fresh caught fish sold by the fishermen waiting in the bay.
No distractions
Our hotel, La Joya del Golfo or “The Jewel of the Gulf” in English, sits on the water overlooking a bird sanctuary on Conchaguita island. There are no cars on the island, offering workshop participants a glimpse of life as it has been for generations, a way of life that will not exist forever.
The Tortuga workshop in Isla Meanguera, El Salvador was a once in a lifetime type of experience. Having never been out of the country before, I was amazed by the cultural differences and beautiful landscapes. The people are very inviting towards the camera and having Roberto as an interpreter and instructor made every photo opportunity a true learning experience. He taught me how to better utilize natural light and how to pinpoint those split second moments that better create a story in your images. The accommodations are fantastic. The food? Unbelievable. You will literally be able to document the fisherman pluck your food from the ocean and have it delivered to your plate. It's an all around fantastic photo adventure and some of the best images that i have taken to date.
